This performance was the culmination of a three-month collaboration between Poets House, the KCO and the Lower Manhattan public schools P.S. 89 and I.S. 289. Funded by Goldman Sachs, the project has explored the intersection of poetry and music with children through a series of intensive, experienced-based workshops with poets and musicians. Third and sixth graders engaged in writing exercises to create poetry and were taught introductory music composition. Then, they set their poetry to music.
