Violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn plays the 1720 "Red Mendelssohn" Stradivarius violin, subject of the acclaimed 1999 film "The Red Violin" .

SOIREE: The Red Violin
Violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn came to New York City to play her famous Red Violin, a 1720 Stradivarius, in a benefit performance for the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra. The recital took place at the Battery Park City home of KCO board member Lee Gruzen and her husband, Jordan. Accompanied by renowned pianist John Novacek, Ms. Pitcairn played a range of music, including pieces by Sarasate, Gershwin and Heifitz.
